Spencer Willett is the Vice President of the Ashland Volunteer Fire Company, overseeing the company’s bylaws, new member orientation, recruitment, and ways and means. Willett previously served as Member at Large prior to his election as Vice President. Willett joined AVFC in 2021 and was named Firefighter of the Year in 2022 and 2023. He is certified in numerous trainings, is an Emergency Medical Technician, and is currently working to become a released driver/pump operator for the department.
Outside of AVFC, Willett serves as Government Affairs Manager for the Department of Fire Programs, overseeing the development of agency policy and legislation and serving as a legislative liaison between the Fire and EMS community and members of the Virginia General Assembly He received his bachelor’s degree in political science from Randolph-Macon College and is a graduate of the Virginia Fire Officer Academy.
