"B" Shift Officer

Brian Grimes

Lieutenant Brian Grimes has been a member of the fire service since 2009, operating as a volunteer with Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Company (St. 7) for 7 years while working as a career firefighter in several other departments, and then being hired with Hanover County Fire and EMS in 2016. Lieutenant Grimes is a proactive member in both the Operations and Training Divisions of the department, being actively involved in recruit and company-wide training, the department’s DPO committee, and serving as the head of the Fire Services Workgroup. Outside of the department Lieutenant Grimes engages in a multitude of job-related training functions, both as a student and an instructor.
Lieutenant Grimes has been assigned to Ashland Station 1 since 2021, where he currently serves as the B-shift officer. He holds an associate degree in Fire Science Technology and maintains his certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic. Along with various service-related instructor, officer, and technical rescue certifications, he also maintains a CrossFit Level 1 instructor certification. Being primarily an Engine company officer, he prides his crews on creating progressive forward-thinking firefighters and medical providers through education, training, and physical fitness.
