The Ashland Volunteer Fire Company relies on officers in two distinct but important capacities, administrative officers elected to oversee the corporation and operational officers who oversee fire suppression and rescue.
A Board of Directors is elected annually by the membership to oversee the incorporated fire company and its administrative operations. This includes organizing company meetings, community events, overseeing company finances, and other day to day administrative duties. There is an elected President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and two Members at Large.
Operationally, the company does not have line officers overseeing fire suppression and rescue, although this opportunity exists for qualified members. The company does have qualified firefighters who can ride in charge of apparatus, although they hold no formal rank. The volunteer company relies on three career officers from Hanover Fire-EMS daily to oversee operational duties.
