A Collaborative Approach:
The AVFC and APD work together closely on a daily basis answering calls for service. This collaboration extends to:
- Joint Emergency Response: In many emergency situations, both fire and police services are required. The AVFC and APD have established protocols for coordinated response, ensuring a swift and effective resolution to emergencies. APD Officers have first responder training to assist firefighters in emergency medical calls when needed.
- Community Outreach: The AVFC and APD frequently collaborate on community outreach programs. These initiatives include events such as National Night Out, as well as educating residents on fire safety, crime prevention, and personal preparedness.
- Information Sharing: The AVFC and APD maintain open channels of communication, allowing for the exchange of critical information that can aid in both fire investigations and law enforcement. APD is a regular partner in providing public safety at large events like Ashland Train Day and the Ashland Strawberry Faire.
