Lieutenant Stephen Fontaine has been a member of the fire service since 2001, starting as a volunteer with the Colonial Heights, VA Fire, EMS, and Emergency Management Department. He joined Hanover Fire-EMS in 2005, serving in various assignments across the county including Station #10 in the Airpark and Station #4 in Doswell. He has also served in important roles assisting Logistics with specialty shops in the field, including managing the hose shop and SCBA shop, providing important support to the Operations Division.

He has been assigned to Ashland Station #1 since 2021, where he is currently the C-shift officer. He is a Nationally Registered Paramedic and holds numerous other firefighting related certifications.
